The First Gayboree CUSCO in 2008 and the 1st HomoPenisErectus IQUITOS & TARAPOTO in 2009 were international megaevents with many participants and volunteers from Peru and overseas. Volunteers have got many opportunities for their own personal development (interships, scholarships, employment and more.

HPE Camp Staff Program
Each year, HPE invites volunteers ages 16 to 30 from around the world to come to Peru spend the summer as an HomoPenisErectus International Camp staff member of one or all HPE eco-adventure gaycamps. The days are long and hard. But the trip and what you see and do can be an exciting time of your life.
As a camp staff member, you will
- Spend 8 to 12 weeks as a member of the staff of a HPE eco-adventure gaycamps in Peru.
- Make friends with event participants and volunteers from other countries.
- Receive free food and lodging while in camp.
- Manage all activities of HPE eco-adventure gaycamp(s).
- Learn about other cultures and gay lifestyles.
- Improve your English and Spanish language skills.
REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A HPE INTERNATIONAL CAMP STAFF MEMBER
To become a HPE International Camp Staff member, you must
- Be at least 18 years of age and not past your 30th birthday on January 1, 2011.
- Be single/bachelor, unmarried and without engagement.
- Be a citizen from one of the Candidate Countries [Go to Candidate Countries list below]. (A candidate must be residing legally as citizen or expat in one of the mentioned countries in the Candidate Countries list at present to be elegible. Nationals and illegal inmigrants are not elegible.)
- Be very healthful and fit mentally and physically. (Blindness, deafness or hearing impairment, muteness, asthma, diabetes mellitus, treated cancer. We permit the participation of blind, deaf, and mute vegetarian persons.)
- Be a young-looking young man, with a slender / slim or thin and toned build without exceeding the Adolphe Quetelet’s Body Mass Index (BMI), and with little or no body hair, and no facial hair (a youthful, fresh-faced appearance without beards, moustaches, goatees and sideburns) [Psychologist William Herbert Sheldon's somatotypes permitted for candidancy are both ECTOMORPHIC: characterized by long and thin muscles/limbs and low fat storage; receding chin, usually referred to as slim; and MESOMORPHIC: characterized by medium bones, solid torso, low fat levels, wide shoulders with a narrow waist; usually referred to as muscular. However, ectomorphic should be not very boned and mesomorphic should be not very muscled in body composition. Ideal average is an athletic body type (“swimmer’s build,” "gymnast's build,") with smooth, usually hairless, skin (little or no body hair, and no facial hair), a flawless complexion, with ripped, flatted 6 pack abdominal muscles.]
- Be male since born and at present.
- Be gay definetly in- or –out-the-closet, or be a tolerant, gay-friendly straight.
- Have an unhibited, social, and friendly behavior with strong responsibility and commitment of work.

- Have experience in volunteer work and/or field work for at least 1 year-round.
- Be available for at least 6 weeks beginning a HPE eco-adventure gaycamp.
- Be approved by the selection and admission procedure.
- Agree to live by the culture and laws of Peru and by the HPE code of conduct, rules and regulations.
- Sign legal affidavit and contract before a public notary and your country consulate in Lima, Peru.
Disqualifications:
A candidate will be disqualified if
- Have cancer, diabetes mellitus, sexual transmitted diseases (including HIV/AIDS), anorexia, bulimia, overweith, obesity, overthin, and other physical and mental illnesses and diseases.
- Have physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and/or developmental disability.
- Have tendences of sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying and/coercion.
- Have a life history and previous convictions of a defendant in a criminal case as well as other law enforcement and criminal antecedents.
- Have not a regular practice of a religion.
- Have not love to whole nature (human beings, animals, plants, etc.).
- Have homophobia, xenophobia and other discrimination conducts and phobias.
- Have political, religious, subversive and/or personal convictions.
- Have drug dependence, tobacco dependence, alcohol dependence and other related disorders.

Accident and medical insurance will be paid by the HPE.
Compensation
While serving in the assigned HEP eco-adventure gaycamps, you will be paid a compensation but not a salary.
- While serving in the assigned HPE eco-adventure gaycamp, you will be paid a compensation. This would be S/. 545,00 = € 150,00 = US$ 200,00 to S/. 635,00 = € 175,00 = US$ 230,00 per effective, volunteer work week of 8 days/7 nights. However, these amounts vary according the merits and demerits you have by your performance as a volunteer. From S/. 2.180,00 = € 600,00 = US$ 800,00 to S/. 2.540,00 = € 700,00 = US$ 920,00 per effective, volunteer work month of 31 days/30 nights if you wish according the contract you sign. (The average compensation of the 1st HPE Iquitos & Tarapoto was € 500,00 to € 1.500,00 for 31 days/30 nights of effective, volunteer work for each HPE eco-adventure gaycamp.)
- Tips/Gratuities are not included in the compensation. Tips/Gratuities are not given voluntarily by HPE participants, they are an obligation for some service. Visa and Travel
Visa is not required to visit Peru. Legal requirements for a stay of more than 3-month needs a temporal residence permit.
Please note that the grant/scholarship will be sent to you upon your arrival for volunteer work at camp.
Touring
You have free-tours in Lima city and Oxapampa Province upon your arrival and during your training.

VOLUNTEER WORK + CAREER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
- TRAINEESHIP PROGRAMME is avalaible for all volunteers. The program provide trainees with a unique, first-hand experience of the workings in a camp. The training also aims to provide an understanding of the objectives and goals of HPE® - HomoPenisErectus®.
- APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME is only available for high school graduates who are or not university students. The program build careers of apprentices when they are training on the job while working in a camp.
- INTERSHIP PROGRAMME is an on-job-training programme only available for university students in the last academic terms for getting their bachelor’s degrees. The programme provides opportunities for students to gain experience in their field, determine if they have an interest in a particular career, create a network of contacts, or gain school credit or scholarship.
Career employment opportunities are available under contract for each programme. Opportunities in Peru include leagal settlement, scholarship and training for peruvian and foreign employees.
HPE REPRESENTATIVE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
A representative volunteer is a position for promotion and sales in a university campus, neighborhood, company, city or country. A representative volunteer under contract get a commission of 10% of the event participation fee of each effective reservation of participant.

Located in the Oxapampa Province, Pasco Region, in the central rainforest mountains of Peru.
